National Resources:

Citizens for Midwifery - Citizens for Midwifery is a non-profit, volunteer, grassroots organization. Founded by several mothers in 1996, it is the only national consumer-based group promoting the Midwives Model of Care.

The National Birth Policy Coalition - The NBPC has coalesced around the following organizing statement: "Increasing access to the Midwives Model of Care in all settings is essential to the health and well-being of childbearing women and their babies. The National Birth Policy Coalition supports legislative initiatives that promote the autonomous practice of Certified Professional Midwives and Certified Nurse-Midwives, and that ensure the availability of safe, evidence-based care during pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum."

The Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) - The Midwives Alliance of North America is an organization of North American midwives and their advocates. The mission of MANA is to provide a nurturing forum for support and cooperation among midwives.

The North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) - The North American Registry of Midwives is an international certification agency whose mission is to establish and administer certification for the credential "Certified Professional Midwife" (CPM). CPM certification validates entry-level knowledge, skills, and experience vital to responsible midwifery practice.
